Momos, a healthy and extremely nutritious recipe. These are steamed
dumplings made of refined flour with stuffing of your choice. I made momos with mutton kheema. Try this special snack recipe and let me
know in the comments how it turned out.
INGREDIENTS:
For the outer cover:
*Refined flour- 1 ½ cup
*Salt- a pinch
*Oil- 1 tsp
*Water- as required
For the stuffing:
*Oil- 2 tbsp
*Onion- ½ cup
*Salt- to taste
*Red chili powder- 2 tsp
*Chaat masala-1 tsp
*Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
*Garam masala powder- ½ tsp
*Mutton mince- 250 gms
*Chopped coriander leaves- 2 tbsp
*Chopped mint leaves- 2 tbsp
*Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
*Kasuri methi- ½ tsp (crushed)
*Water- 1 cup
PROCEDURE:
For the dough:
*In a large mixing bowl, add flour and salt. Mix well
*Now add water required to knead a firm dough.
*Apply oil and knead well.
*Cover it and set aside.
For the stuffing:
*Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add onion and saute till translucent.
*Now add ginger garlic paste and fry well.
*Now add mutton mince and salt.
*Mix well and saute for 4-5 mins.
*Now add rest of the ingredients. Mix well.
*Check for seasoning and add salt and chili powder if needed.
*Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
*Allow the pressure to release naturally.
*Open the lid and evaporate excess water, the stuffing should be thick
and dry.
*Remove it in a bowl and let it cool down.
The Assembly:
*Make small round balls of the dough.
*Roll the dough balls into thin puris.
*Grease the steamer basket with oil and place the momos.
*Arrange the momos in the steamer basket, ensuring that there is space
in between the momos.
*Steam it in the cooker for 10 mins.
*Don’t overcook the momos as they get dense and chewy.
*An indication is that when you thouch the momo it should not feel
sticky. This means that it's done and the momos will get a transparent look.
*Serve momos hot along with a dip of your choice.
