COCONUT CHUTNEY

 

Popular South Indian condiment or side dish, mainly prepared for breakfast for IDLI DOSA and MEDU VADA . This simple chutney is the king of all chutneys. Try this easy chutney recipe and let me know in the comments how it turned out.

 


INGREDIENTS:

*Coconut- 1 cup (fresh, finely chopped)

*Green chilies- 3 nos

*Garlic pods- 5-6 nos

*Salt- to taste

*Roasted gram dal- 1 cup

*Coriander leaves- 1 tbsp

*Water- ½ cup

 

For Tempering:

*Oil- 2 tsp

*Mustard seeds- 1 tsp

*Few curry leaves

 

PROCEDURE:

*Add Coconut, green chilies and garlic pods to a blender jar.

*Blend the coconut till grated.

*Now add salt and gram dal.

*And blend till the dal turns to a fine powder.

*Add water and blend to a fine paste.

*Now add coriander leaves and pulse for a few seconds.

*Don’t over blend the coriander leaves.

*Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle.

*Now add curry leaves and fry till the leaves turn crispy.

*Pour the tempering on the chutney and serve with idli, dosa or vada.
