Sindhi Dal Recipe

A quick and comforting dal recipe, which can be made in 10 mins. Sindhi Dal, A comforting dal which is made using ghee, moong dal and aromatics for the perfect meal along with Rotis. INGREDIENTS:

  • Oil- 1 tbsp
  • Ghee- 2 tbsp
  • Onion- 2 nos (finely chopped)
  • Tomatoes- 4-5 nos (chopped)
  • Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste- 1 tbsp
  • Salt- to taste
  • Washed moong dal- 2 cups
  • Chopped coriander leaves- 2 tbsp

PROCEDURE:

  • Heat oil and ghee in a pressure cooker. Once it gets hot, add chopped onions to it.

  • Saute well and cook the onions till they get soft and translucent.

  • Now add chopped tomatoes to it and mix well and let it cook.

  • Now add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and ginger garlic paste to it.

  • Mix well and let it cook till the tomatoes turn mushy.

  • Now add washed dal and mix well. Add 1/2 cup of water to it and mix well.

  • Close the lid and pressure cook for just 1 whistle. Remove the whistle immediately and let the pressure release, we don't want the dal to turn mushy that's why this step is done.
  • Now sprinkle coriander leaves. Check for seasoning and add more salt and spice if needed.
  • Sindhi Dal is ready, Serve hot along with ghee and roti.
