Fresh Orange Cake

 

FRESH ORANGE CAKE

 


A cake which fills your kitchen with it's fresh zesty aroma. Easy to make orange cake made using fresh oranges, covered with a tangy orange glaze along with buttercream rossettes on top. Give this recipe a try and let me know in the comments. Follow our Instagram channel for such easy recipes.

 

INGREDIENTS:

For the cake:

*Yogurt- ½ cup

*Powdered sugar-1 cup

*Oil- ½ cup

*All-purpose flour- 1+1/4 cup

*Fresh orange juice- ¼ cup

*Baking powder- 1 tsp

*Baking soda- ½ tsp

*Grated orange zest- 1 tsp

 

For the glaze:

*Fresh orange juice- 1 cup

*Sugar- 2 tbsp

*Cornflour- 1 tbsp

 

For the frosting:

*Softened butter- ½ cup

*Oil- 1 tbsp (Any flavorless oil)

*Pre-sieved icing sugar- 1 ½ cup

*Vanilla essence- 1 tsp

For decoration:

*Rainbow sprinkles

 

For simple syrup:

*Water- 4 tbsp

*Sugar- 2 tbsp

 


PROCEDURE:

For the cake:

*In a large mixing bowl, whisk together yogurt and sugar until all the sugar dissolves.

*Now add orange juice, oil and zest. Mix until fluffy.

*Now add pre-sieved flour, baking powder and soda.

*Mix with a spatula until nice and smooth.

*Do not overmix.

*Pour the batter in a greased lined tin.

*Place this tin in a preheated kadhai and bake for 30-35 mins in low flame.

*Once done, let it cool completely before demoulding.

 

For the orange glaze:

*In a saucepan, add all the ingredients for the glaze.

*Mix well to dissolve completely.

*Place it on the stove and cook until thick while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

*Remove from heat and cool completely while stirring.

 

For the buttercream frosting:

*In a mixing bowl, add butter and oil and whip it until it turns pale and fluffy. This might take around 3-4 mins in electric mixer and 7-8 mins in manual whisking.

*Now add icing sugar spoonful by spoonful, add a spoonful and mix then add another.

*Now add vanilla essence and mix.

*Refrigerate until use.

*You can add any food colour of your choice, I’ve added yellow food colour.


 

The Assembling:

*Place the cake on a cake board or a plate of your choice.

*Brush sugar syrup on the cake.

*Now pour the orange glaze on top of it.

*Refrigerate until set completely, which usually takes 10 mins.

*Now fill buttercream in a piping bag with a nozzle of your choice.

*Pipe out small rossettes on top of the cake.

*Put some rainbow sprinkles on top of it.

*There you go, easy fresh orange cake is ready.
