Vangi Bath Powder Recipe | Vangi Bath Masala Recipe | Vangi Bath | Brinjal Rice

Vangi Bath is a spicy flavourful rice dish made with brinjal, spice masala, and herbs. A popular rice dish from the Karnataka Cuisine. The term 'vangi' refers to eggplant or brinjal and 'bath' refers to rice, so this is basically a flavoured brinjal rice. I've already shared the recipe of Vangi Bath using readymade masala recipe. Link: Vangi Bath Recipe, you can use homemade vangi bath masala for this recipe. This masala stays fresh for around 6 months when stored in an air-tight container. This masala can be used to make vangi bath serving 4 people. You can even double this recipe for a larger batch. INGREDIENTS:

  • Cloves- 2 nos
  • Cinnamon- 2 1'' sticks
  • Cardamom- 2 nos
  • Chana dal- 1 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal- 1 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander seeds- 1 1/2 tsp
  • Methi- 1/4 tsp
  • Grated coconut- 2 tsp

PROCEDURE:

  • Heat a pan, lower the flame once it's hot. Add all the spices to it and roast it on low flame.
  • Roast them until all the spices are aromatic and the grated coconut is crispy and golden.

  • Remove from flame and allow it to cool completely.

  • Add the spices to a jar and grind it to a fine powder.

  • Store the vangi bath masala in an air-tight container and use a clean spoon.
  • Use it in your vangi bath in place of the store-bought vangi bath masala. Enjoy!
