Banana flan or banana caramel custard pudding is a rich, delicious pudding recipe made using eggs and bananas and a caramel sauce. This pudding is smooth, jiggly and wobbly, perfect for a kids party or any other occasions. Made using minimal ingredients and easily available ones. Below I have shared step-by-step picture instructions for the recipe. Do try it out and let me know in the comments how it turned out.
INGREDIENTS:
For the Caramel sauce:
- Sugar- 1 tbsp
For the Flan:
- Ripe bananas- 3 nos
- Sugar- 2 tbsp
- Milk- 200 ml
- Eggs- 3 nos
PROCEDURE:
- Take a broad pan, sprinkle sugar over it.
- Switch on the flame and let it melt undisturbed. Don't use a spatula or a spoon, swirl the pan a bit once or twice. You'll notice that the sugar has started to caramalise. Simmer the flame and let it get a rich golden colour. The darker the colour, the richer the flavour of the caramel. But make sure to not burn it.
- Pour the caramel immediately over an aluminium vessel, mine was a 6" one. The caramel sets immediately, so swirl and spread the caramel as soon as you pour it.
- Take all the ingredients in a blender jar.
- Blend them to a smooth puree and strain it using a seive.
- Now pour the blended banana mix to the caramel vessel. Wait for 10 mins and remove the foam from the top.
- Heat water in a large vessel, place a steel stand on ut and place the caramel vessel on it.
- Steam the flan efor 20-25 mins or until the pudding is set and cooked. This may take even 30 mins at times, so do keep an eye over it.
- Once the flan is cooked, let it come to room temperature before refrigerating it for 3-4 hrs.
- Loosen the sides using a knife, invert it on a plate.
- You'll see all the caramel melted on top of the banana flan.
- Jiggly wobbly banana flan is ready, serve chilled.
