KFC Style Fried Chicken | Crispy Fried Chicken Strips | Crispy Fried Chicken Recipe

Drumrolls... cause we've got you the recipe of KFC style crispy fried chicken. Well, who does'nt know this? This fried beauty is loved by all. Brined chicken is dipped in a wet batter and coated with dry flour, then fried to perfection. Try this recipe and keep reading to get step-by step picture instructions. Happy Cooking!


INGREDIENTS:

For the Brine:

  • Chicken- 1 kg
  • Water- 2 cups
  • Salt- 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
  • Vinegar- 1 tsp

For the Wet Batter:

  • All-purpose flour- 1/2 cup
  • Salt- 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
  • Onion powder- 1 tsp
  • Garlic powder- 1 tsp
  • Black pepper powder- 1 tsp
  • Egg- 1 no
  • Buttermilk- 1 cup
  • Baking soda- 1/4 tsp

For the Dry Coating:

  • All-purpose flour- 2 cups
  • Salt- 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
  • Onion powder- 1 tsp
  • Garlic powder- 1 tsp
  • Black pepper powder- 1 tsp
  • Oil- for deep frying

For Serving:

  • Onion rings
  • Ketchup
  • Mayonnaise

PROCEDURE:

Brining the Chicken:

  • Wash chicken well and drain it in a colander, For this recipe I'm only using boneless chicken, you can even use chicken wings, or chicken legs here. I've cut the chicken into long strips.

  • Take a large bowl, add chicken, water and the rest of the ingredients listed under brine.Mix well using a spatula and cover it and let it rest for at-least 30 mins, or overnight if you have time.

  • What is Brine? So basically Chicken is soaked in flavoured water, so that it gets flavourful and tender. Later the water is discarded.
  • After soaking, discard the water and drain the chicken in a colander.

Making The Wet Batter:

  • Take a mixing bowl, add flour and the dry spices to it. Mix well using a spatula.

  • Add an egg to it and mix well.

  • Now add buttermilk to it and mix well. Add baking soda to it and give a final mix.

  • Add the drained chicken to it and mix well. Set this aside till we prepare the dry coating.

Making The Dry Coating:

  • Take all the ingredients listed under the dry mix in a large bowl.

  • Mix well.

Frying The Chicken:

  • Heat oil in a kadhai
  • Remove some pieces of chicken from the batter and add to the dry coat, Make sure you remove off the excess wet batter from it.

  • Coat the chicken pieces well with the flour by pressing the chicken and flour with your palm

  • Now dust off the excess flour, deep fry in hot oil until crispy.

  • Your KFC-style Crispy Fried Chicken is ready. Serve right away with ketchup, mayo and onion rings.

  • If you want to fry it later, you can store the dry-coated chicken in the fridge and use it later.
