India's most iconic street food- Chicken Rolls. Who does'nt love them? Let's now learn how to make them at home. Chicken rolls are basically marinated chicken fried to a perfect crisp, shredded and stuffed in a mayo filled roti or paratha. My kids love them and I prefer making their favourite street food at home as it's hygienic and healthy. Of course, it takes a long time to make, but yeah the results are worth the efforts. Try this recipe and watch kids asking for more.
INGREDIENTS:
For the Marinade:
- Chicken breasts- 3-4 nos (cleaned, washed and drained in a colander)
- Salt- to taste
- Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
- Black pepper powder- 1 tsp
- Chaat masala- 1 tsp
- Tandoori masala- 1 tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste- 1 tbsp
- Kasuri methi- 1/2 tsp
- Soya sauce- 2 tsp
For The Sauce:
- Mayo- 1 cup
- Ketchup- 1/2 cup
- Chilli sauce- 2 tbsp
- Red chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
- Onion powder- 1/4 tsp
- Garlic powder- 1/2 tsp
Other Ingredients:
- Cucumber juliennes
- Roti dough made using 2 cups Wheat flour (alternatively you can use store-bought half-cooked paratha)
- Herb mayo
PROCEDURE:
- In a large mixing bowl, add cleaned chicken and all the masalas listed under marinade.
- Mix well and let it marinate for at least 2 hrs.
- Now heat a tawa, drizzle some oil on it and place the chicken pieces, Don't over-crowd the tawa.
- Fry on both sides until crispy and tender.
- Remove it in a plate and shred it using a fork.
- Set this aside.
- Take a bowl, add all the ingredients for the sauce and mix well.
- Set this aside too.
- Take a small portion of the dough and roll it out into a thin chapati.
- Cook on both sides by applying oil until crispy.
- Now apply a layer of herb mayo on the roti.
- Now apply the sauce we prepared, You can use any sauces of your choice. Now place the shredded chicken on it.
- Add chopped cucumber to it, you can add any veggies of your choice. Now drizzle some more mayo on top.
- Roll it into a tight roll. Wrap a tissue or butter paper.
- Tasty Chicken roll is ready, Serve right away.
