This classic buttercream is a go- to frosting for any cake. Easy to
make, tastes heavenly. Give it a try and let me know in the comments how it
turned out.
INGREDIENTS:
*Softened butter- ½ cup
*Icing sugar- 1 ½ cup
*Vanilla essence- 1 tsp
*Flavorless oil- 4 tbsp (optional)
PROCEDURE:
* TIP: Always use softened butter, place the butter out from the fridge
at least 2-3 hrs before you start.
* TIP: For instant defrost never microwave the butter, the butter melts
which will lead to a melty frosting.
Instead place butter container in a bowl of water. It’ll speed up the
softening process.
*Put softened butter in a bowl, whisk it continuously until it turns
fluffy and pale.
*This usually takes around 10-12 mins by a hand whisk and 6-7 mins by
an electric beater.
*Now sieve all the icing sugar.
*PRO- TIP: If you don’t have icing sugar handy, you can make your own
by simply mixing 1 cup finely powdered sugar and 2 tbsp cornstarch.
*Now put the icing sugar spoonful into the whipped butter, whisk to
dissolve and repeat the same.
*Once all the sugar is done, you will see the frosting taking up shape.
*Now add vanilla essence and whisk it well.
*Add oil to create lightness in the frosting, which is completely
optional but enhances the taste a lot.
*There you go, simple yet tasty buttercream frosting is ready.
*You can use this frosting as it is in cakes. Yes, you can add flavors
and colors in it too.
*For instance, adding cocoa powder to it makes chocolate buttercream.
*Add strawberry syrup for a strawberry version.
*Feel free to add lemon or orange zest and color to make lemon or
orange buttercream. The variations are limitless.
*Use your creativity to add any flavors you like.
